There are many different sizes and styles of harp which harpists use. There is the larger 'concert harp', which is also known as the pedal harp. You can see an example of this in the picture on the right. This type of harp has many more strings and is more versatile. It is not only suited to the more technical classical style tunes, but also modern contemporary music as well as traditional folk music, jazz and Bollywood music.

The other type of harp is the 'Celtic Harp' or 'Clarsach' as it is also known. This is the traditional version of the instrument often favoured for Irish, Scottish and Welsh folk tunes. The Celtic harp can also vary in size substantially from a small lap harp to a free standing harp, a sample of which is featured in the picture on the left.

If you are looking for wedding harpist for your special day in or around the Manchester area, than you have arrived at the right place. Our range of top harpists specialise in weddings and they will be happy discuss what music you want played and advise you accordingly.

You can hire a harp player for any or all parts of the wedding day. Common hire periods include the wedding ceremony (guests arrival, brides arrival, signing of the register, bride and grooms exit and guests exit). You need to allow up to an hour for this. All harpists will quote a minimum of up to 1 hour for a civil ceremony or up to 1.5 hours for a standard church ceremony. If it is a Catholic church service than you need to allow up to 2 hours.
The drinks reception and or wedding breakfast is great time have a harpist as it creates a pleasant atmosphere but does not intrude on conversation.
